The Opportunity
The Apprentice Diesel Mechanic will work directly under the guidance and support of the workshop team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn from qualified diesel mechanics in a new workshop, across a modern fleet of cropping, harvest, earthmoving, and logistics machinery.
The successful applicant will complete Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology and receive a formal qualification.
Key responsibilities will include assisting qualified mechanics and workshop staff to diagnose and repair vehicles, service vehicles and machinery, safety checks and call outs as required.
The successful applicant will posses:
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work well as part of a team and under the direction of others
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to being part of a safety culture that follows policies and procedure
- A genuine interest in heavy diesel machinery along with commitment to completing the relevant training requirements
- A driver licence (desirable)
- Willingness to undertake a COVID-19 test and have vaccination, if required (we will reimburse after 4 months)

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Parlour manager, you will be a self-motivated, hard worker who undertakes all aspects of the milking processes to ensure great milk quality. No previous experience is necessary as you will be trained in the milking routine along with good stockmanship techniques to move cows in the dairy. You’ll need to work collaboratively with your 4-8 person team and you’ll never be bored because there’s no off-switch for cows. There is overtime for those who’d like more work and you’ll have the opportunity for scheduled weekends off as per the roster.
The successful applicant will possess:
- A genuine demonstrated interest in cows/other animals
- Demonstrated past achievement in any field is advantageous
- Proven history of working well as part of a team with a track record of punctuality
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety standards and commitment to improvement and learning
- Past experience living/working in a rural area is advantageous
- Current driver’s licence with access to own transport (desirable)

Farm Hand Positions
Roberts Shiel Dairy Farm is looking for experienced Farm Hands for the corn silage season, working with our cropping and harvest teams to produce quality silage to feed our cows and prep ground for sowing of winter crops.

The Opportunity
The Farm Hand is responsible for providing skills and expertise to support the farm with a wide range of daily tasks. These tasks may include cropping, irrigation, harvesting and/or recycling, however at times may be called upon to help within other areas of the business. In carrying out these tasks the Farm Hand will operate plant and equipment along with various farming machinery. The farming team work collaboratively and take a sense of pride in their work, communicating effectively with all levels within the company.
Key accountabilities will include completing daily farm activities safely and efficiently, completing daily machinery activities safely and efficiently and ensuring all farm record keeping (eg environmental compliance data collection, irrigation data) is maintained and submitted in line with specified timeframes.
The successful applicant will possess:
- Basic machinery operation skills
- Current driver’s licence with access to own transport
- Proven history of working well as part of a team with a track record of punctuality
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety standards and commitment to improvement and learning
- Past experience living/working in a rural area is advantageous

The Opportunity
Roberts Shiel Dairy Farm is on the lookout for patient, hardworking, reliable and responsible people to be a part of the Roberts Shiel Dairy Farm team. We have various positions available within our Calf Team. While experience working with livestock is an advantage, Roberts Shiel Dairy Farm will support and train people with little or no experience, teaching you industry leading skills.
Key accountabilities include undertaking all aspects of the calf rearing processes, safe vehicle operation including tractor work, identifying health concerns in calves, administering treatments as required and assisting with daily activities as part of the calf management programs.
